Tennessee Red Cedar is often referred to as Aromatic or Eastern red cedar. The fine-grained, soft brittle pinkish to brownish red heartwood is fragrant, very light and very durable, even in contact with soil. Because of its decay resistance, the wood is often used for caskets & coffins. Tennessee red cedar is an option for any of style of casket or coffin.
Our basic Tennessee red caskets are very attractive & reasonably priced and their traditional looks makes them suitable for any funeral service, yet their relative low cost also makes them suitable for wakes, viewings or natural burials.
They come in a smooth box design and a single raised lid is standard, as are the solid wood handles. The exterior is fully sanded and given a clear oil finish. The interior is fully padded and lined including the lid, with off-white also being standard. They are sized to fit a standard vault.
